I've collected copper Lincoln's for awhile now, and these two I'm unsure if they are errors or what.

The little "tail" on the 1979's "T" is indeed a scratch. But still has something going on. I'll post pics of no light next.

Soak that coin in 100% acetone for 4 hours - bet that crap will come off!
Rest in Peace

Not sure what your questions are so will guess. #1 Rim? Is a MAD, misaligned die, not an error, just machine problem.#2 Two globs? If you soak the coin in pure acetone I'm sure that glue or foreign material will come off.Note on the reverse is the dimple showing something impacted the coin, suspect a BB or machine of some sort. The #1 coin is unusual in the fact that BOTH sides show a MAD, meaning both were misaligned or loose upon strike.

@QF, for the second coin that has two indented flat spots on the obverse, I'm thinking that someone stamped those in after this coin left the mint because it appears as though there are corresponding marks on the rev that match up. I have no idea what exactly was impressed into the surface of this cent, but I do note that the shape and size are roughly equal to a the head of a nail.

Couldn't get good enough pics without light. Apologies. Any help with this matter will be greatly appreciated.

#2 is damage, probably from a nail punch or something similar.

If you aren't asking about the long scratch, or impression, on #1, all I see is maybe it has some gunk on it.

Thanks y'all, and yes the misalignment where it appears as if the coin may have been struck once or twice more with just the rim leaving an indentation. Then the second coin, I was thinking myself it looks like someone may have hit a nail head into it, but looks to unrounded. Both are the same size and pattern indents, was wondering if possible something got onto the die and there may be more like it.

Ultimately, with your responses, seems like no real errors to speak of, just machine problems. And in the case of #2 there quite possibly some kid with a pellet gun or the like.

As for the "glue" looking spot, if it we're at one time it is gone now. This is a discoloration, although it's difficult to tell through photo, there is no foreign material on this coin from what I can tell at 4.5x magnification.

1979-D looks almost like a former Encased Cent.
1969 looks almost like it was shot with a BB gun.
