Yes, that is the large date! As far as 'rareness', I don't have my RedBook handy. I don't believe they are too much rarer if they are. In any case, I wouldn't save it unless it was in mint state.
Check out the 2's. It's the easiest for me to spot. Straight downstroke= large date, curvy=small date. And none of them are particularly rare, except for the "1 of a kind" D-small copper (and I'm still not convinced it's authentic).
