Hi I was wondering if someone could tell me more about this coin and and it's worth. I found it in Philly at a grocery store. I believe it to be 1918 and later because of her hair shape, and the olive branch is not touching the "L" .. is there any way to date these after they've been worn away? I don't know much about coins.. and regardless of its value I plan to keep it because it's cool! Please let me know. Thanks everyone!

Hi there, and WELCOME!

I believe you are correct about it being a 1918-1924 example due to the hair shape and non-recessed date. With this level of wear I would suggest that this coin is worth around melt value if not a little more.

The lack of mint mark means it was minted in Philadelphia. And as far as I know there is no reliable way to recover the dates from worn silver coins. I would say it is better left as is (imho).

I am sure one of the brain boxes on here will have something else to say.

Very cool find!

-Matt :)

Nice find! Keep it as a pocket piece.

It is the Type II variety. It is worth bullion value (or maybe a few cents more) because of how worn it is.

Well you already know one thing. It is worth at least quarter. And of course for Silver content, a bit more. Keep as a good luck token.
