IIRC, after the ATB Quarters end (which might not happen by 2022), the new design would have to involve Washington crossing the Delaware. OTOH, that might well mean that there won't be a Washington head on the other side either, because having two Washingtons on the same coin is just silly. My favorite option - unlikely to be taken, of course - would probably be to have another run of ATB Quarters, then a brief commemorative Delaware crossing design for the tercentenary in 2032, followed by an entirely unrelated design featuring Liberty.

Quote: but by 2022 they will have run their course. Just in time for round two. Better keep dreaming until 2033.

I wish they would give us the quarter we were supposed to get in 1932. It was gorgeous, and won the contest to be the quarter. Flannigans design came in second place. The secretary of treasury disqualified the winner because it was designed by a woman!
Making that the new quarter for the next 80-100 years would be fixing a huge injustice.

That is a decent design of historical value. It will never happen, but I would not be opposed to it.

I don't particularly care for either the Flanagan design or the Fraser design.
