Doesn't seem practical to mass mint proof quality coins but they sure would be pretty to have a big pile of them.

While I like the look of the eagle reverse quarters I hope they don't return. I would like to see Washington dropped and a return to liberty. The other reason is, I collect these and don't want the series to return. Looking back on the higher relief versions of the coins you can truly appreciate the design. I don't think a modern re-release would do the design justice.

I'm afraid I'm a terrible example for US collectors. The only post 1964 coins I collect are ASE simply because they only make a few "different" ASE each year. But we should still be thankful that our mints are nothing like the RCM. It takes several $100,000 to buy all the coins produced each year in Canada.

I've grown weary of all the different quarter designs over the last nearly-20 years too, but I'd rather see a complete overhaul of all of the coinage. Cents and nickels are produced at a loss, halves and dollars just don't circulate. 2026 (sestercentennial) is coming before you know it; that would be the perfect time. In the interim, sure. I'm not too thrilled about the "Washington crossing the Delaware" concept that's supposed to be there after ATB is done.

The Eagle is never coming back. Assuming there is no round two, which the legislation has authorized, the next quarter reverse is supposed to represent Washington crossing the Delaware.

Take it up with Congress.
The mint has to follow the laws passed by the collection of idiots in Washington.

IMO, the reverse design of the Statehood and ATB Quarters is infinitely more interesting than the eagle. There's nothing wrong with the eagle, but the Statehood Quarters were singlehandedly responsible for increasing the number of numismatists in the US. Most of the ATB designs have been very well done. We've moved forward. Let's not take a step back now.

Do all the changes make people start collecting quarters or turn collectors off? I might take another look at the older quarters now that you mention the eagle is never coming back.
