I have been looking at the 1973 Large Bust quarter for a long while now on ebay. I am not sure the best way to go here, buy it slabbed by ICCS PL66, OR buy it significantly cheaper in a PL set? Pros and Cons please and thank you.

Depends on price of the sets, most pl sets will grade a 66

If your least expensive option is an intact set then go for it.
IMO large busts are overpriced in PL and SP, just look how many intact sets are for sale on ebay, only a fraction have been certified.
On the other hand, how often do you see a raw MS large bust for sale, they've pretty much all been slabbed, they are true scarcities.

I'm really on the fence on this one. On one hand I like the lower price on the PL set. On the other hand I like the fact the slabbed one had already been certified. I'm pretty sure slabbing a coin on my own would be rather pricey. I'd most likely cut the coin out of the set. Ideally I would prefer a MS coin over a PL coin but I'm pretty sure that isn't going to happen. Don't have that kind of finance.

I would buy The PL set if it's cheaper and cut the coin from the set and grade it.
I got very lucky myself after searching the wilds for this quarter over the last 35 plus years. I purchased a PL small bust version on E-bay for $6.95 including shipping and the seller sent me the Large Bust PL version instead. I then had PCGS grade it.

Take DBMs advice, Get a MS strike instead, a AU50 is way scarcer than a PL66 and much easier to resell.
