Bought this raw at a coin show in 2003, as I was re-entering the childhood hobby 25 years later, and started working on a 7070. Initially I tried to find coins within budget in higher grades, then I discovered lightly worn silver to be attractive and tried to match the set.

So, I sent some to PGCS for grading before selling, which turned out to be a good move on almost all of them, including this one.

As I read about each series, I would rush to check some of my 'blind' purchases to see what I could learn. With this issue, these finds are very common -- but it was very interesting nonetheless. Difficult to image, but can you see it?

That's a better than average nickel 3¢.
The III on the reverse is well defined which to me is a mark of a stronger strike.
So many show weak to very weak area(s) on the Roman Numeral.

Two_Tone,
Post a good close up picture of the date. There are 8 repunch date varieties for 1869.

This is the only photo I can find of the obverse, and I no longer own this coin. Trying to enlarge the image it only gets blurry :/
