Great buys ratman4762.

I brought three 1997 silver crowns for £15 and £7 for the British Virgin Islands coin. I really like the Diana coin.

Also visted a junk store this week,no coins but I got a Victorian silver sugar tongs and Edwardian silver salad spoons about 172 grams of sterling silver for £3.

Although it was neither ebay nor a steal, I thought I'd post my little tale on this thread. At a coin show today, I was digging through a dealer's rummage bin of cheap coins. I happened upon a FDR coin in a plastic envelope. The sticker said 25¢, and the coin was big and heavy. I spotted a tiny .999 silver and 1oz designation on the back. Turns out it was a 1982 silver round issued on the 100th anniversary of FDR's birth. Looks like it sells for $35-50 on ebay.

I did the right thing, though (at least in my book). I told the guy that he needed to investigate the coin further, because it looked like someone had accidentally put a .999 silver round in his rummage bin for a quarter. He even joked that I should have bought it.

Kudos Brandmeister. I had something similar happen at a coin show just before Covid. I was poking around in a cheap coin bin and came across a dull, worn Walking Liberty half in a beat-up flip with a peeling sticker marked 75 cents. The bin was unusually filled with many large world coins. I showed it to the guy behind the table and suggested it was out of place. He laughed and snatched it up. Knowing how this guy sold his cheap bin stuff, he would have missed it if I'd included the coin in a stack of several others. He'd just eye-ball each flip quickly and gone with the total. As it was, he gave me a 10% discount on the pile I finally decided to purchase.
