*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***There's a lot of circulation damage on this coin, but I would like the opinions of more experienced numismatists on a few features of the coin.
The clip left a little sliver of the rim on each side. Could it be pre-strike planchet damage that escaped the inspectors?
Everything below refers to the obverse:
Mint Mark: There's a small "blob" at the lower-left of the D. (Repunched?)
Date: There is a very small mark next to the 2 at its northwest "corner" (not visible from all angles.) It looks like it was split from the main numeral, like a die crack - or could it be a RPD, or even a doubled-die?
The last T in TRUST has some odd damage, and there is a dent on the rim above the S. It doesn't seem likely that the dent could be post-strike without also damaging the S.
There is rim damage next to LIBERTY, which
does seem to have damaged the L. Interestingly, the letters are not in a straight line. Is this common on a worn coin?
