very nice, my dad has given me his dads coin collections with lots of pre-decimals... All silver pre-decimals are worth a bit now, so maybe that threepence is worth something, I can't see the year though

It looks like your Dad was an error/variety collector. I think the 2x2 labeled "double nose" is the 1962 doubled die obverse, which has a lot of collector interest. I'm sure there's a lot of other interesting coins there.

Hello I don't think that the date is key - the coin is smaller than the others in size? You guys are the best. I just put a 1946 penny pic in my other post. Veronica

Dolly I see a 1972 5 cent... It's the key date of all the 5 cents.. Very scarce.. If its in Uncirculated condition, its worth 30 bucks easily...

Dolly, I don't think many of us Aussies know about centavos's... So will have to hand it over to the world guys.. Or you can wait for Sap, who will answer every single question on totally random stuff you never thought anyone would know..

I did find 2 1972 5c pieces. I also found some 5c pieces with big chunks cut out of the sides and other wierd things. Please have a look at the post higher on the bulletin board about unidentified coins for me. Thanking you all. Veronica

Hello. In the unidentified the last pictures are scanned clearer sorry. The coin has just a face no writing and the other side is balnk. I just found a 5cent piece that has just one side and the other side is bend and grainy looking (like it was grinded away and caught). Veronica

Hello Dolly, There seems to be some interesting pieces there. Was your father a member of a coin club in your area, if so someone from the club may be able to help you out, by seeing the coins in hand. 2nd as was suggested in another thread, if he was an error variety collector have a look at his books, as I'm sure there will be some there. Error collectors alway have books as well. 3rd, I see you are in the Sydney area, there are some quality coin shops around there, they may give you a valuation. Also have a look at any receipts there maybe, I know I record on the back of my receipts what they were for. These are only suggestions of course. These things take time.

Hello. My dad said all the coin dealers in Sydney were thieves. He was a grumpy Yugoslav. He had no books but spent 50 years collecting coins. He never bought them - he was a pensioner - people would give him jars I rememeber as a child or he would go through st Vincents. I have posted in the unidentified section (on the first page when you log n higher up). There are lots of pics taken on my mobile phone. Please if you can have a look at this thing he had kept. He showed it to me 15 years ago I remember it - just a face. Veronica.

Veronica, if you could, it would be a better idea to post pics of one coin at a time, zoomed in with descriptions in seperate threads.... That way as you post pictures, the experts can look at them and give you descriptions about them... And then you can write those descriptions down beside the coins...
