Hi everybody I just wanted to ask if 1982 D small date cooper cent is still a coin of value? Reason being is I met up with a gentleman who was selling rolls of pennies for its copper value. I bought 36 rolls for $20. The rolls are labeled, 1959 through 1981 mixed, And another set of rolls labeled 1982 copper. I searched through the 1982 rolls and found two 1982 D small date. Just wondering is this coin now a common variety error or if it's considered as a coin that is scarce?

The 1982D small date was struck on zinc core planchets, those should weight 2.5 g, if they do weight 3.1g, you have the rarest modern coin of our time. Only one copper 1982D small date has ever been found. I would weigh all the 1982's if you have those in there the others maybe a zinc and copper mix. Are these Uncirculated MS or just normal coins?

All those business strike 1982 coins are quite common, no premiums except the copper 82D Sm Date.

Yes, like Crazyb0 stated - ONE has been found so far. Weigh it and then get back to us that they are zincolns. Actually weight all the coins in the roll, ya might have gotten "jipped"

If you do, get a 2 place decimal one - so you can tell 2.71 or 3.13 - just an example, don't take my estimates as gospel.

Not any value, your 82-D is a zincoln , 82 -P's are common in copper

. Of course, there is a easy tool that my coin shop sells. It has a Zincoln on one side, balanced like a see-saw. If it is a Zincoln, the scale is even. If it is copper, than the side with the copper cent weighs down the Zincoln side.
