when using larger coins I tend to try to stick to larger sizes because I like to have straight sides on my rings but it seems people are looking for chunky rings so the smaller you go the more curved the profile of the ring. the metal is just too thick to hammer it flat without destroying the detail. The alternative is to cut a bigger hole and have a narrower band. I then loose more of the coin design.
