Other than the fact that they are copper why do they look so different from other coins of the same year. And are they small date coins? I can't tell for sure.

1970 dated Lincoln cents were made of bronze, thus the copper color. I don't know if Denver minted Lincolns were made in the LD/SD varieties. I don't think so, but the experts will be along shortly.

As far as I know,the sd is found on the S mint only. As to color,they just tone differantly. Some tone naturally,some are environmentally toned.

The coins look like they have been cleaned and now are that color.
