It is a start! Take for example the 1897 British Cartwheel which was only struck one year. Is one of them a complete collection?

If you had a 1937 and a 1938 Crown from Australia You would have the entire collection.

Nohope, I stand corrected as it most definitely was 1797! I would like to say it was a typo but know better! We, here in the states, don't use a 17 very often so the 18 came very naturally! I have the cartwheel in question and still amazed every time I pick that coin up! I just can't imagine what the folks over there must have thought the first time those were given back as pocket change!
Now Sir Rggoodie tell me about that SHORT set? Available and affordable? It is such a great feeling to actually finish a set and two coins only?

How Many Coins make a collection?
I would say anymore then you can carry with 2 hands becomes a collection.
Another calculation is if you can not remember all the coins you have, this also would be classed as a collection.

Unquote: =================================================================== Depends how far you want to take it...[:p] Some collectors would deem just that two is not complete without the 1937 Edward Fantasy Crowns. This Fantasy Crown has a historical link to the US. When Edward VII died, Edward VIII has deemed to be King and these crowns were minted before his coronation. Edward VIII abdicated and gave up a Kingdom for the love of an American divorcee, Dallas Simpson.Following his abdication, His brother George V was crowned King. The crowns that were issued to some countries of the Commonwealth could not be recalled causing a few red faces around. To me that is a great love story.... This one maybe a restrike.

Well you have lost me here as the crowns were struck in 37 and 38 so why the fantasy crown of 37? I am checking into this set as I think I can pick up nice VF to XF at a reasonable price. The 38 in unc is quite pricey but...you never know what I will do! Two coins for the set is really quite attractive!
