Oh, dear, they were right under my nose.

I was passing two ticket machines at the Mount Kisko station of the Metro North Harlem River Line and noticed that one was plastic-only and the other accepted cash ... including dollar coins.

Hoping that what goes in might also come out, I selected a U$D 21.50 ticket and inserted two twenty-dollar bills and got a sad message that included words like 'cannot' and 'make' and 'change'.

Hoping that I had merely been overly ambitious, I tried again with a twenty and a ten and heard the happy:

CA-CHING CA-CHING CA-CHING CA-CHING CA-CHING CA-CHING CA-CHING CA-CHING

On my return to Grand Central Station, I noticed that many of the MTA ticket machines accept dollar coins and, well, what goes in ...

Not to encourage misbehavior, but I will note in passing that my U$D 21.50 round-trip ticket to Valhalla NY is refundable within 60 days of purchase. CA-CHING!

And, oh yeah, I almost forgot: 1x George, 1x JohnnyA, 1x TommyJ, 1x SBA (1979), and 4x SACs (00-P, 00-D, 01-P, 01-D) ... for coins that famously see little use, most of these were fairly worn.

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey
