Hi all, I picked up this 1874 gold indian earlier today. The seller says it's cleaned and repaired but as long as it's legit, I'll be happy to get it for $40 over spot (with ebay bucks). Do you have any concerns just from looking at the photos and what should I look for when I get it in hand? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1874-3-Gol...p=true&rt=nc

Please post a photo and not your hyperlink. I'm not going to click on your hyperlink ... no clue where that goes in todays internet wild world of security.

it is a damaged and repaired coin, when you look at the s, and the o. it is very distracting. it wasn't a very good repair job either. I would have passed this one for a better example..but if you are happy with it, that is all that matters.

Thanks but does it look authentic?

It's not worth any premium over its gold content, but it looks genuine.

It is worth bullion value only because of the cleaning and repair. I would not have purchased this one, instead looking for an example with original surfaces, possibly PCGS or NGC certified.

This seller is highly respected and would never sell a coin that is not authentic.

I wonder if they used 0.999 gold to plug up the hole?
