Just wondering if anyone knows why the JFK Half Dollars are so dirty in general. I was going through a few boxes and almost missed 3 coins. Looking at the edges it was difficult to tell. I always check for sound. Many of them have a yellowish grime on them. I know when looking at edges of rolls when there is a Ben Franklin or a Walking Liberty you can't miss it. What caused the JFK to get so filthy. Thanks.

I don't know either. I have notice that machine rolled coins are dirtier in general than CWR. I'm guessing that a lot of debris gets dumped into machines with the coins. I use Nitrile Gloves while searching all coin denominations

Since 1979 and the Hunt's manipulation of the silver price, I consider 40% halves dirty also.

Rolled coins in general seem to be really dirty. I also like to use gloves when searching, otherwise I feel a need to wash my hands every five minutes or less.
