I'm just going through some coins I brought a few months ago and found this coin. It seems to be a 1806 George III penny but it seems to have been counterstamped with a name and a year. Is this a love token and does it have a value?
It is hard to say if it is a love token, or someone just stamping names on the coin, but if it is, it is not a very nice one at all. The better ones have initials/ names nicely engraved with cursive script and often with ornamental engraving as well.
I doubt that any collector would pay more than a small amount for this. Maybe a dollar or 2 because it looks contemporary.
