What does the edge look like? Maybe a MAD and or a tilted die?

Is diameter and edge is normal? See link below explaining how some types of false rims come about. Adding there are some more causes as well. Thanks, Doug.

1971 and 1972 were known for high pressure strikes, a MAD w/ HP causes the protorim

Probably hiccup cause I was editing the post.

Edge view shown seems to show normal reeding. Make sure to check the whole circumference. No need to post images unless something is amiss.

Another thing that can occur is a Wide collar scenario. That kind of strike is easily overlooked or hard to spot right off.
