Hi all! Have opportunity to look for something interesting in 1/2$ bill notes from the bank, and have few questions.
How original packing (100 notes) looks? I mean packing made there they were printed. In our banks I saw notes sealed in plastic for 100 notes in each.
Is there a chance to find star notes in them? Or star notes are packed separately?
Is this business has any sense?

So to my understanding (I could be wrong) star notes are replacement notes from damaged notes that are pulled from circulation. So if the package of notes is a original mint wrapped package, then I would think they will all be star notes or they will all be regular notes, since it was cut from a newly printed sheet. If its a bank put together package, then yes some could be replacement notes.

No, that is not correct. Star notes are used to replace notes that were damaged or misprinted. They are replaced in sheet form if the defect is detected before cutting. In this case there may be star notes in a pack of regular notes. If the defect is noted after cutting, the entire pack of notes containing the defective one is replaced with a pack of star notes.

So it has a sense. Can you say approximate number of star notes, that can be found in a 100 of sealed notes?

No. There may be no star notes in a pack of 100 if there were no defective notes in that sequence. There may be 5, there may be 10 if they had a bad day at the BEP.

Not sure about todays practices, but typically the BEP used to replace roll over numbers ending in 9999 and 0000 with star sheets resulting in two star notes at the bottom of the pack.

A pair of notes, like these, were usually replaced with star notes.
