It's neither one. It's Die Deterioration Doubling caused by a worn out die. It doesn't add value to the coin thought.

Mushy, a worn die. MD would be flat and crisper.

Yeah it is, so named because the 1955 DDO is so famous and many people wonder when they see it, and it's inexpensive. lol
