Austria Thaler 1824 V Is there any mmV this year?
It is 25,6 gram but in Krause stands 28.
Later in 1852 they lower the weight. Could this one have been made at that time?
The diameter is 38 mm insted of 40.
There is an edge lettering IUSTITIAS REGNORUM FUNDAMENTUM *

Here's your coin, a Thaler of Franz I of Austria:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces33431.html

But I think yours is a fake, but I'm not 100% sure. Here's why I think it is a counterfeit. Notice the denticles around the rim, your coin is pronounced, the one plate coin isn't that indicative. Also not the Mint under the bust is "V" I had assumed Vienna, but if you notice on the chart only A & C are listed for 1824. And the final kicker, on another site (NGC) the 1824 is listed as "rare" and no POP value is given.

Hi there,

I'm by no means an expert but from what I can see it could possibly be a 1824 1/2 or 1 Scudo coin, these were produced in Venice.

To my eye it does not seem counterfeit but it always pays to be cautious, I would get the opinion of someone who has seen a few of these if possble.

Hope this helps :)

Is this not the same coin?
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces38423.html

I assume wear could account for it being slightly underweight (.4g)
Also from what I gathered the original coin would have been 39mm.
Hope this helps.
Apologies if I am way off base. I am not very familiar with this issue, just trying to help.
Edit to ask it is Lombardy-Venetia not Austrian, correct?
