Quote: Conder101, wow that'a quite alot. Are some of them culls? At the income level I had when I acquired most of them, yes some of them are culls. In fact some of the very rare and very expensive ones are culls. But it's all I could afford. Aoraki, 1801 is a very interesting year, and an unusually tough one. Five reverse dies that were messed up with a fraction of 1/000, one of those corrected, S-215 a rare variety, 219 the common three error reverse, 218 the rare three error reverse, 217 the impossible coin, and five NC varieties. I don't have any of the NC's for this year but I do have is the 218. The only Sheldon numbered variety I don't have is the 217, and it's one of only three Sheldon numbered great bust that I don't have.

I missing the the 217, 218 and all of the NCs. I've got an eye for the 218 and the NC-1. Unless I get lucky, the rest are not likely to happen...

Favorite design is the Walking Liberty half. Have the full set, one of each date/mint... so 65 total I believe? Sold my duplicates at a show a few years ago to put more $ into other sets.

Mercury Dimes. I have well over 4,000 of them. 10 Albums full and 2 more close to full. Album 1 is almost all full bands except for the 18S.

Peace dollars, working on a slabbed set. Have 20 (still need the better/keys), plus two raw: one in a 2x2, one I got as a door prize at my first local coin show. That one is on a stand on the desk of my home office.

The Capped Bust series is my favorite. More specifically would be Capped Bust quarters. I probably have close to 40 and this includes the large and small variety's. All are problem free coins with the majority of them slabbed by a TPG. I probably have 20 or more Capped Bust half dollars and maybe 10 or more capped bust dime/ Half Dimes.

Barry I don't see how that Morgan graded so low. As for me my current favorite is the Seated Liberty's. I like them all but this one has my heart at the moment.

I have 50+ Capped Bust Halves, too many of them duplicates. I can't seem to pass them up when I see them in decent condition with good eye appeal.

Only one. Not the best condition but this arrows and rays design has my attention at the moment.

That Morgan proof is amazing, barryg! I can see it being your favorite.
My favorite series are bust halves, 1794-1839, but my reasons may seem a little strange. I wanted a coin I could see and enjoy without needing a loupe all the time. I originally liked pennies, particularly Indians, but that got old fast. Then, I switched to Morgans, which were large and plentiful. I gave up on them because there were just so many dates and MMs but, also, because the contact marks and rubs were distracting on new coins.
So, the bust halves were a good compromise. I can mostly enjoy them with an unaided eye and contact marks seem to add character. My problem now is trying to get some of the rare dates, like a 1794, 1801, or 1815. Even more common varieties, like an 1817/3, is super hard for me to afford. So, the task of completing my set will probably last my lifetime (and, maybe, part of someone else's after me.)
