I know you are new. But on a doubled die, the doubling is on the die. On Machine Doubling it is caused by the machine. The normal die makes a strike then after the strike the dies move slightly altering the devices, just like your coin. This happens a lot. The machine caused that look. But on a doubled die, the devices are enlarged showing a spread. On Machine Doubling the devices are normal sized, but now that are reduced in size by the MD. Here is an example:

Note the three images. The one is the center is a normal sized device. The example on the left was altered just like your coin and it reduced the devices. The example on the right is a doubled die. Do you see the differences? Lets go to the next step:
