While roll searching I came across this 1987 D LMC with a different looking mintmark. In 1987 there were two different mintmark varieties, one was the MMS-011 and the other was the MMS-012. Variety Vista has the MMS-012 for the 1987 D as a rare mintmark for the year 1987. I also am including a pic of a 1988 D LMC. Pretty cool find.

Now I'm starting to get curious as to how rare they are. I just found another one!

Well the MMS-012 punch didn't last too long. It got damaged as well.

Probably because the design was so thin?

It is definitely thin Mr. Coop. The second one I found on a 1987 looked very thin.

Chase007, it is a variety for sure. I'm guessing that because the 012 was used for the 1988 D LMC there is a limited number of 1987's that used that mint mark. I'm assuming that is why Variety Vista calls it rare?
