I am glad I found this site. Some of these coins have been sitting around for a years because I just didn't know how to identify them.

Thoughts on this one? Its a bit rough.

Mass 10.57

Flower pot and Bodhi Tree. The Bodhi tree (or "tree in railing") is common place in ancient coins from about 100 AD and earlier, but the flower pot isn't. I suspect this is another fantasy piece.

@CG, I have no idea what this is, but it looks to me like your first image is upside down: the central design is a vase with plant rather than mushroom.

The Treasure vase...'the vase of inexhaustible treasures' - however much is removed from it, the vase remains perpetually full.

Good luck Paul

Very nice job Paul--what reference book are you using?

These are plate coins from the National Colombo Museum..

Full on at the moment with end of term marking so not had a chance to search any deeper. But there seems to be 3 types with the Purangata (treasure vase) on the reverse..The tree..Lion...Bull(zebu).
Somewhere between 4th to 7th century and are mainly found on the Island in Jaffna, Anuradhapura and at Tissamaharama in fair quantities.Linked to the Pallavas but very few coins have benn found on the mainland of India.

Hope this helps Paul
