I have this 1972 D LMC with what appears to have used an over polished die?

Possibly, or it might be a partial grease-fill.

I agree with Coinfrog, most likely partial Greaser.
Rest in Peace

Well a struck through error is incorrect. Why? When a die fills with grease, it makes the devices wider.

In this case the devices are smaller than normal. So it is the result of a polished die.

This coin is a 1964 proof cent reverse. Seems like 6,000 strikes to a die was too many for this die. (possible die damage was the issue)
Same even on this OP's coin. The edge of the die was over polished so much that part of the devices went away.

with Coop. It's it was caused by an over polished die from trying to remove Die Clashes. A Struck Through Grease error won't look like this. Grease would widen the devices, causing them to etheir be weakly struck or disappear, depending on how much grease was in the die's crevices.
Errers and Varietys.

Yes, it's an overpolished die.
