Ariette posted this game in the Main Coin Forum, but very few members participated in the game, and currently no one has posted in the topic for a while. I thought I would post it in the Classic Coins forum, as the game is interesting and educational.

Basically, post an image of a TPG graded coin (has to be a classic or colonial coin), and we have to guess whether it got a straight grade or a details grade. The person who posted the coin reveals the grade, and then anyone can post an image of another TPG graded coin and continue.

I'll start with the below coin.

Details finger prints, as well as
details dipped.

It has flat spot wear? on the breast of the eagle, but interestingly, nowhere else as extensive as in this area.
Curious.
Perhaps the die could have done with a shallower cut, to yield a lower relief at this point.
Maybe this is one of a few reasons why it never went into large scale circulation.

I do not believe they would details a Gobrecht dollar because of a fingerprint. Maybe it was Gobrecht's fingerprint/ Who knows?

Happy to see this continuing! I'm on the fence regarding the posted coin, though something about the light spots around the stars on the reverse and the somewhat faded tint of the surfaces suggests cleaned to me. Given the lightness of the problem and the rarity of the piece, though, I wouldn't be surprised if this one graded straight.

Don't miss my previous post, I revealed the grade of the Gobrecht dollar.

Since no one has posted a coin, I'll go ahead and post another one.

I noticed that. Few members are participating in the game. I wonder why?
