At the age of 32 both of my grandmothers still give me cash on my birthday. Last year I tried to give it back and granny told me to shut my mouth and take my money. Now that I have some extra cash I can't decide which coin to buy:

A 1324 Afghan 5 Rupee:

Or an 1818 Prussian Thaler (note the size):

So, which would you buy?

I'd get the thaler. It looks like it's in a better shape and besides I like Prussian coins.

Personally, neither one. They both have significant issues, the Afghan coin more so than the Prussian.

As a proud owner of many Thalers, the Thaler is definitely my choice.

Of course the Afghan coin has issues. All the coins minted by Afghanistan at that time do. What don't you like about the Thaler?

I guess it's a matter of personal opinion. I'm one of those who prefer to spend on eye appeal rather than rarity alone. The Prussian coin also appears to have had an old cleaning, which I see as an issue. Though at the price, it's a good buy for the right collector. =)
