Had the day off yesterday so I hit a park and 2 schools. Not a lot of junk surprisingly which is always nice. This puts me at the 4000 coin mark YTD.

I always have fun when I am out looking. But I did pay the price for it. Only got up to 95 degrees which seemed pretty cool compared to the last week and me not thinking I wore a tank top and got sunburned. Oh the joy.

I only wish I could find this many all the time. Guess I'm lucky to get what I get with all the MDer's around.

Question for you guys...do you cash in your finds at set intervals? I coin roll hunt (pennies mainly) and have noticed that there seems to be some nasty pennies that look like the ones in the picture, so it would seem someone around here is cashing in their finds. I was just curious as to what others do and if you keep track of the total dollar amount of your finds?

I cash my finds about once a year.
When I get them home I run them through the ultra sound machine and this removes most of the crud but not the corrosion.
for the bad ones
I boil the coins in vinegar for a few minutes and this cleans most of them enough to roll
I roll all the good coins and cash them in at my local bank. The bad ones I still roll but take them to the main branch of my bank where I tell them what they are. First time I did this they got really confused and could not understand why I would bury coins and dig em up. They take them and I believe they get sent off to be destroyed. The fed pays the bank back face. They know me now so everyone hides when I come in.

I for one have found some nasty coins. I try to clean them up the best I can, but they will only get so clean. The nasty ones go in a baggy. My bank requires I roll them and write mutilated on the roll.
I had one teller ask if I could clean them before I bring them in. I told her they already were. I got one of those looks. I too get them in change. Always wonder if it was one that I had found.

I keep a spreadsheet on everything I find. The amount and totals of each denomination. Description, weight, current value of the jewelry,s metal content. Number of keys, bullets, casings, locks, different foreign coins, knives, oldest coin of each, etc. etc. So I guess I do keep track of my finds.
