The balance is probably good enough if it seemed to positively identify it as a copper-plated zinc coin. Having a decent scale is always helpful in this hobby, though.

As for the two new ones you posted, they do appear to be copper Large Dates. They are in pretty good shape for their age, but I'm not seeing anything too special about them.

Quick update, definitely a copper-plated zinc cent. Weight is 2.5g

Do I see part of the word liberty over his mouth in the second obverse photo?

I also just noticed a faint 6 under the 9 on the date. Is that normal?
