Right behind Jefferson's head and a little on his head maybe. Also possibly on the reverse starting at the you in "United" and gooing across the Monticello. Is this a minor lamintaion flaw? If it is, I found something worth keeping.

I do believe that is a lamination flaw showing on both sides. Notice how the direction/angle of it from front to back corresponds. That's a tell-tale sign.

The year also adds credence to your hypothesis.

Nice find!

Thanks Spruett! I'm pretty happy with it. Ever since I saw pictures of lamination flaws I really liked them and wanted to find my own.

One of the rules I've made for myself is that if it's an older coin (Pre-1960) I pay extra attention to the details. All others get a quick glimpse and a date check to see if it's a date that has an error or variety I know about. I'm starting to learn how to not pay so much time scouring the minutest details of every coin I come across.

Thanks coop. Yeah now I also know about the large S variety so I'll have to keep my eye out for now on.

Nice find! That's a good example of a Lamination flaw. WW2 era Nickels (AKA War Nickel) seem to be very common for Planchet flaw issues.

It would have been really cool to see this one when it was fresh out the mint.

No matter how much one "learns" about coins, some things can only come from experience. I have learned a ton here on CCF, but my experience is lacking. Only time and persistence can aid that.
