Can anyone explain why it looks like there is extra letterings and even randomly placed numbers.(On the reserve side just above the banner reading "Colorful Colorado" there seems to be a number 2.) Is that just me?

It maybe parts of an older clash on that area. But not enough to get excited about though.

Probably slight Machine Doubling. Not a doubled die. If it were, it would be the first Business strike quarter that would have it. All the State doubled dies are on the ear lobes. The only one that had hub doubling on the States quarter on the smaller devices is a proof coin:

Quote:

1999-S 25˘ Pr PA WDDO-001 "Best Of" Variety

Description: A Class IV spread to the ESE shows on LIBERTY, USA, QUARTER DOLLAR, and slightly on IGWT and the S mint mark. The hub was also tilted resulting in the strongest spread being on the left side of the obverse and the spread decreasing as you move from left to right across the obverse.

That is the one DDO that is not the earlobe.

Thank you. There is soooo much to learn. But its all still very cool to me. Wouldn't it be something if just by chance it would be the first business strike quarter.
