Been looking for the 1964 proof set to complete my run of Kennedy's and Washington's for the proof coins. (far back as I want to go there). So I won this lot:

Nice set, right? Think again, this is the piece of doggy doo-doo that came in the mail today:(excuse the pix, my digital cam don't do macro for some reason.

At least the nickel and dime were unaffected, nickel may even pass for a slight cameo proof. Oh, cent is impaired too. Hopefully auction house will rectify and correct this bait and switch!

Anyone wanna buy some nice...ah...."toners"?

Wow, that is a situation certainly in need of attention. That half and quarter are completely unacceptable based upon the original pic. I don't mind toning, but those aren't something I'd be proud to own!

I hope you get your bucks back on that one.

Shows are the place for PS. All the dealers have seen so many few of them check common sets for high grades.

Let us know the conclusion.

Even with a return, it's a hassle.

I feel for your pain. I bought a mint shipping box of a hundred '61 proof sets--all unopened. To my dismay, most had deteriorated cellophane and were toned.

The picture of the 'unopened' shipping box did match what I received though, so I couldn't complain.

The bright side? I got some nice blue nickels!

Crazyb0,

You are so right. What some companies, or individuals, for that matter, consider business ethics is absolutely scandalous!

You did not receive what you thought you purchased. I don't know how they can justify the mess they sent you.

I was so fortunate/lucky to find that same 1964 PF set in complete 70 grade, one of the few in existence.

I hope things turn around for you.

All my best

Send back. Don't buy from this seller again.

They are definitely using the bait and switch method.

That looks like a junk proof set. Return it ASAP. I wouldn't be doing business with that auction house in the future.

I have 24 sets in this condition. Is this the condition that your interested in? None of the 24 sets have tarnished coins.
I'm curious as to how much you paid for your purchased !964 set.
