Hi everyone! What a great community you have here. I've already made a few posts and it seems my pictures are lacking clarity. Is there any advice you guys have on how to take good pics w/ an Iphone? When I try to get close to the coin it gets blurry. Any special setting I should have it on, zoom in or anything? Or should I edit afterwards using something or particular settings? Thanks:)

Which model I-phone do you have?

A good thread to read is http://goccf.com/t/160092

It sounds like you are probably getting too close to the coin. If you are too close the camera can't focus. Back up and don't use the zoom. On most iPhones the zoom is digital, not optical.

For taking the pic, get a remote shutter. When you tap the phone to take the pic that is enough to wreck the proper focus.

I don't have an iPhone, but have used my phone extensively for photographing coins. With my latest phone (LG G6), I actually found that clarity was improved if I used the digital zoom a bit instead of no zoom and having to crop more after the fact.

I would guess that the closest you can get without pics being blurry is about 5 inches. There's no fix for that as it is hardware based.

If you have a voice-activated shutter feature, that solves the camera shake problem at the expense of looking like a weirdo to any other people around.

Welcome to the forum. I also use my iPhone to take pics. I do have the phone a little bit from the coin and then zoom in. I crop it after that and most of the time it turns out ok.
