Hello. I would like to share with you a recently found 1968 D. Lincoln with a repunched date. I can't figure out what the previous year is. The 1968 S image is for comparison basis only.

This is damage to the 8 on the coin and unfortunately not a repunched date.

The dates have never been punched on the Lincoln series so it cannot possibly be a repunched date, it is just damage.

What is a repunched date? Is it done by the mint or by people wanting to up the value of their coins?

The 8 also looks like post mint damage to me but I don't know what a repunched date is supposed to look like.

Try the error and variety forum. I have posted several Indian Head cents with RPD's. As mentioned, there will be no RPD's in the Lincoln series as they were not punched into the die.

Hi. I am posting more photos of the supposed repunched date. The coin is not damaged. I believe somebody fooled around with that 8!
Thanks guys.

Definitely post mint damage. Accidental or deliberate, who knows, but damaged.
