Just picked these up at a local coin show. Thoughts on a grade?

The 17-P TYPE 1 is nice . I'll say VF-20 , The 1920-P is about VG-10 maybe F-12 .

I think grading should include designations for "Full Innie Belly Button" and "Nice Toes" (ala Rex Ryan).

I think the 1917 is a EX40. The 1920 I just liked. Got both for $120 combo. They look nice together in my 7070.

When grading, do you grade obverse and reverse independently then split the difference? Is there more of a judgement call involved?

I think both quantitative and qualitative considerations result in a final grade, so yes and yes.
