I just got a call a little bit ago, my bid on the S-264 was successful!! Another coin removed from the "I'll never own one" list.

Congratulations on you S-264!

I contented myself with just viewing the catalogue and admiring the many beautiful coppers listed in there. A very well done catalogue.

Brings me down to needing just two Sheldon numbered varieties from 1795 to 1814, 1796 S-96 and 1801 S-217.

Wow! That's quite an accomplishment! How long has it taken you to build that collection?

Congratulations on getting the S-264.

Congratulations, Conder!

In my personal quest for rare counterstamps, I've learned to never say, "I'll never own one." Just last month, I acquired such a piece from the UK. It's been on my radar for over twenty years! Happy hunting for the last two coppers needed!

I joined EAC in 1982, I started actually collecting early copper in 1985 intending to just put together a date set of the draped busts. Then another collector who is getting out offered me a small bulk lot of 30 different varieties. So it's been about 33 years now. I think this purchase brings me up to I about 260 varieties, 255 Sheldon numbered varieties, and five NC's. There are 295 Sheldon numbered varieties and new purchases are becoming few and far between. My goal for the last four years or so has been to simply try to add one new variety each year.

Dang I should have placed a bid on lot 491, hammered at $200 less than half of what I thought it would go for. Doh!

Where are you guys seeing lot numbers? These are the coins be offered on ebay, correct? I don't see any lot numbers on any of the listings. Or is this auction happening off ebay on another site?

I bid on a lot of the lots, but I can't find prices realized. How did you tell what lot number 491 went for?

Thanks!

My friend who was there and who submitted my bid for me said that a LOT of the material was going for ridiculously low prices. I haven't been able to get onto the EAC website members section lately, that would be where the prices realized will be posted but it is possibly a little soon for them to be up yet.

No these are the coins sold Saturday night in Traverse City MI at the annual EAC sale. The lot numbers are from the Catalog that was shipped to the members.
