Hi,
How would you grade this? How badly does the damage affect value?
Thanks!

XF40 Details, Graffiti to be exact. That was intentional.

The 'details' are grievous in the case, unfortunately.

Thanks for responses!

This coin would be worth 250-270$ if it were a normal XF40..with graffiti, would 150$ be about right?

The intentional marring of the XF coin, and it's location, takes it down below VF-20 to try to sell it. Where it trended at about 300 Canadian, I doubt that you could sell it for more than $10-15. They are common enough that I doubt someone would use it as a hole filler .. sorry.

Well, I figure 39$ wasn't the worst deal. I'm sure some people would still be willing to pay a wee bit more than I did to get a nice example of one of Canada's first quarters

It's only worth bullion value, just too much damage

I would take it up for $20, maybe a bit more, but not as a hole filler, because I don't collect sets. I would take on it's merits at that price level, as an individual coin. It would be included in the Canadian part of my World collection.
The obvious scratch would be noted, as well as price and date paid, on the 2x2.

Exactly . Hard to to come by in that shape raw.
I also would have paid 35 or so and right to my collection
permanently .
