perhaps too difficult ?

a less corroded piece would maybe help ?

the second from a series of three is in a better state, except the hole of course
legends
OBV - DIE SONNE DER GERECHTIGKEIT ERLEUCHTE MICH
REV - DAS ICH DAS IRDISCHE GEBRAUCHE SELIGLICH

here is the third one, which I find so attractive that I would really like to know more about this type, like ...

* date of the original copper version (not the later 18th century and later imitations)
* place of production
* meaning of the REV legend

thanks for your help !

No help on identification, but I think the obverse legend reads "Die sonne der gerechtigkeit erleuchte mich." I also speak no German, but I think it translates to "The sun of justice enlightens me."

perhaps the legends are related to the reformation transforming parts of Germany?

a silver type, produced at least one century later than the copper pieces shown here, is now on the market:

another silver piece, also a later type, was auctioned in 2011

some more digging:

1) the piece is described in a book from Joseph Appel (1829) Münzen und Medaillen vol IV #4053 - alas no date !

2) the obverse DIE SONNE DER GERECHTIGKEIT ERLEUCHTE MICH may mean:

the sun of justice illuminates me

the pun could be the link between light and enlightenment
I suspect that this coin was produced at about a century earlier than the age of Enlightenment (1715-1789), so is seems far fetched to speculate about a token the German (Bavarian) branch of the Illuminati.

3) the legend on the reverse has to do with a proper way of living
DAS IRDISCHE the gifts of every day of life
GEBRAUCHEN benutzen, making use of in a good way
SELIGLICH is an old German word, meaning blessed
it can be found in old books; also on the tombstone of Wilhelm Kling (1630) in the Dom of Worms http://www.inschriften.net/worms/in...tml#content)
DAS ICH DAS IRDISCHE GEBRAUCHE SELIGLICH
may perhaps mean:

that I may use the fruits the Earth in a blessed way

this idea has gained new attention in the light of global change and sustainable way of dealing with our planet

justice and sustainability, two great ideas united on this moralpfennig
