My only thoughts are: don't touch the coin with metal; and don't mark the surface of the coin with marker.

And now that it's got marker on it...don't clean it with anything short of pure acetone (not finger nail polish remover)

Actually it is not marked. Look at the first image. From 11:00-2:00 you can see the wrinkles of it being in a 2X2. (Thankfully)

Thanks y'all. Yes the marker is on the cellophane of the 2x2 and the paper clip isn't touching the coin.
