Wow...what a cool find! That's different...it's not everyday you see a gold halibut. There might be some interesting history to that piece. Don't sell if for "melt", it could be antique.

Pendant is 14k. It had the chain in it. Took it off to photo. Halibut, I was thinking flounder. Has 2 eyes on the top. But what do I know. They don't look like that when I eat them.

It could be either fish...they look very similar. I just know whoever made it knows their fish, because they added that curve to the lateral line (dots down the center).

nice fishy there! shall we say "goldfish"?
you must be using a "macro lens" attachment -- good photos of the jewelry.

Southern Yankee, When you hunt schools, do you need permission from the city to do so, or do you just do it? We have alot of OLD schools around here that I'm dying to search, I just don't want to get busted for doing so.

I went to a school at 6 am on Saturday. Only found $.27 so I did not bother taking a picture.
But a police officer just happened to be checking the grounds as I was pulling out my shovel and detector.
As he pulled up, I told him what I was doing and asked if there were any problems. He said enjoy and if anyone from the school tells me to leave than leave.
So my guess is that if you are on city/school property most law enforcement would only care if there was a complaint. Obviously, you should not go during school hours. I also don't like to go when it is crowded with kids playing, so I try to go when only the birds and the mosquitoes are awake. But as a disclaimer, I am sure that every city/town/state could have different laws or ordinances.

My main issue is that most of the really old schools are in neighborhoods that you really don't want to be in the first place. However, being there at 6am before the bullets start flying may not be a bad idea.

Most of the time I go in and speak with the principle. I have only had 2 tell me I couldn't and I would have to check the county schools administration. So I didn't. No big deal plenty of others around. I don't go during school hours and if there are kids playing I just bypass. Don't need the hassles. There are a couple that I have been to that I didn't bother to ask. Usually no one around to ask. For the parks I went to the city parks and rec and got a so called permit. No cost, basically a permission letter good for one year. Nice to have that reassurance with you.
There are some areas around here that I just refuse to go to. That little bit of change or what not isn't worth the risk. I like to come home with what I leave with. I too have run into cops at places. They don't even hardly give me a second look.
Deadmunny that is a macro lens on the coin and jewelry. Lost a little bit sharpness sizing down but it's good enough for this.
