Tomorrow there is going to be a barn sale near to where I live. The barn is 100 years old. I'm only brining 60 bucks with me but I'll be looking at antiques and also scouring the ground for coins. I'm ginger to bring a flashuge light and even look under all the hard to reach spots and maybe even bring some kinda hooked slim Jim kinda tool to get a better reach.

I'm really excited and was wondering if anyone else has ever had a chance to do something like this and lucked out.

I still don't have an Indian head and I'm hoping to maybe spot one or two.
Rest in Peace

Depends on the barn and what used for. Most likely there was NO business transactions done in the barn itself, possibly a small blacksmith venture if horses or mules as was the family's farm. Farmers were a poor lot, they generally didn't walk around with change in their overalls. If you had a detector you would find nails, bailing wire, that lost pair of snippers, maybe a horseshoe or two.....been there. No coins.

Now the small blacksmith shop on the SW corner of the property brought some metal, no coins. The Old Hatton General Store across the road in the coinfield also brought no coins and that ruby ring my mother-in-law lost in her front yard as a young girl in the late 20's never has turned up to this day!

You'd probably have better luck taking a dirtfishing rod, for the yard.
I've dug several dozen Indian cents, and many large and small silvers from areas like that. Make sure you have permission.

Use the $60 as your beginning savings account for a metal detector.

It is pretty rare to find researched ground. Getting a new good detector will get you deeper where older models didn't go.

GOOD Luck

Yeah I thought it'd be cool to metal detect but I don't have one. I figured evn if I don't find any coins I can at least look at some old stuff and maybe score on a cool antique
Rest in Peace

Good luck with that barn sale but be careful where you stick your hands under things . You don't want to get bit by a snake or deadly spider .
And yes a metal detector would be good on that property with owners permission .
