I don't think this is the doubling 9 version, so my grade is AU at $25.50 cad.

I think that it circulated momentarily before going into a collection or stashed away, 58-61. This coin is a good example of the 2 types of 9's that were on some of the 1899's. All of the final digits were handpunched into the die and, on some of them, a slightly smaller font was used with the notches just before the ball much deeper and the digit a little more delicate.

Okiecoiner ... did they ship the pennies in this era in bags? If I saw a similar amount of wear on a later penny, I might just call it bag marks.

IMO MS-60-62.
