I have never called a bank and asked them to order boxes of coins for me (Halves, etc).

I was curious on two things:

1) If I order at a bank I have an account, say a box of half dollars, what will the charge be?

2) If I go to a bank I have no account at, and ask them to order a box of halves, what can I expect the charge to be?
Rest in Peace

No charge over face for any bank I've ever dealt. The trick is finding a dump bank.

MrRabbit.

Banks have different rules so there is not one answer for your question.
But if you don't have an account, almost no bank is going to order boxes.
If you do have an account, still some won't order but you can at least try.
They would not generally pass the cost to you tho.

Dump bank is the hardest part for me. I've actually opened accounts at 4 new banks, just so I can spread around my dumps.
I am thinking about opening 2 more accounts at different banks just so I can spread dumps out.
Rest in Peace

DUMP Bank is the absolutely hardest to find and secure for more than a few times, especially halves and whole boxes. My bank will order me boxes, no charge but won't receive rolled or bagged coins without hand counting(they don't go through any sorter like other coins.) Once the tellers have to hand count each roll of $900 plus, once will be it usually.

Here's what I do. I use Comerica, B of A, Chase and PNC. Primary bank is Comerica. I order all my halves and dollar boxes through them and ALWAYS dump at another branch or one of the other three banks, usually PNC. They've never questioned it and neither has B of A. I did ask Chase yesterday if they would order me a box of dollars and they said no as I'm not a business owner. Also with Chase, you can go in and buy coins and return coins without an account but the maximum is $100.

Banks, especially Comerica, keep raising rates on ALL of their services. That's why I dumped them.
