Hey guys, new here, should I not be opening these? Does it matter? I kind of opened one but then I stopped. I know this forum is about hunting through rolls but I'm not getting an answer on another part of the board so I thought I would try here.

I don't know why I didn't start with one of the beat up rolls

Thanks
Lee

These are not original rolls, just nickel dollars but could be a silver version from set, looks like some one rerolled them

Thanks John,

Just talked to mom, they were rolled at a Royal Bank in a small town of 200 people. She actually rolled them LOL

Almost sure they came in a cloth 1000 unit bag, unless there is an error, these are only worth face or less if the bank charges a fee for deposit

The rolls originally came from the mint in bags, but then banks and security companies put them in rolls. Those look like they were rolled early in their lives, and not tossed around from bucket to bucket by coin dealers.

It depends on the collector, for value. To me, they are worth more than face value... do not take them to the bank and do not sell them for face value or less... it might be worth the effort of finding a dollar collector to buy those.

How many dollar coins were in a roll when these were wrapped?

I don't know much about Canadian rolls so I was curious.

Wow - in my experience, that would have been a lot of rolled dollars for one bank! In the 70s ad 80s I used to go to several Canadian banks at a time looking for dollar coins. It was funny how many cashiers I had to inform that Canada actually made dollar coins (and halves for that matter). Most banks never had any.

One time I got a roll of 1984 Jacques Cartier 450th Anniversary dollar coins. The rest of the time I would only get a few random halves and maybe a dollar.
