Just curious to see if this happens to anyone else. I collect small size notes and have since the late 70s.

I still have most of the coin and currency magazines that started me in the collecting habit. The other day I was flipping through one issue from 1979 and a crisp new note from that era fell out. It was nothing spectacular but just goes to show you save and forget some of the notes that you come across.

Yesterday I was cleaning my garage - and going through some old paperwork - and flipped open an old check stub from 2004 - and I find 4 crisp new 2003A $1 notes. Again - these notes are nothing rare, etc - but the point is - I saved them and forgot about them.

When I told my wife about them - she was hoping I found a thousand dollars squirreled away - but alas it was only $4.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I wonder how many other notes I've saved away!

Yes, I've done it too. Then I spend about half an hour trying to figure out why I saved the note....

I once heard about a friend who found money in a book that they were about to throw away.

It was not my note, but I found a 1977 A Dollar in a COBOL book about a year ago. Maybe it was a system administrator's lunch money?

A few months ago, I found a coffee can on one of my shelves that had my grandfather's stuff he pulled from circulation: about 20 silver dollars and 4 Bicentennial $2 bills. My mother told me she had given it to me years ago but I don't think I'd ever even looked inside.
Alas, I'm not too sentimental when it comes to money. I auctioned the coins and took 3 of the bills down to the pretzel store (I saved one bill). BTW, if you're a fresh pretzel person like me, take note that this Thursday is National Pretzel Day. They should be doing specials all day. If not, ask them, why not?
