I have a question about grading... I'm new to coin hunting/error/numismatics... Is there a "rule of thumb" about when to get a coin graded? I have recently purchased some "un-circulated" silver pieces and was wondering, when is it worth getting them graded? Can you sell for more if it is graded AU55 Vs. listing it as such? Does it turn off buyers if you list it as AU55, but not graded, and they feel differently? Have I asked enough questions yet? I try to limit it to 5 a day:)

It is okay. It may take some time, but you will get the hang of it.

The main difference between an AU coin and an unc. coin is wear. An AU coin is an unc. coin with a little circulation wear, usually on the high points of the design. If you have any you aren't sure about, post them here. There are several really good graders who regularly post here. In the meantime, this site might answer some of your questions...

Typical rule of thumb is $100

OR if the selling price certified is more than the cost of certification + the cost raw
