Don't know what happened to my message?

What I'd like to know :

Is this legitimate toning or is it artificially created- I never saw only half of the obverse being toned like that.

I'm intertested in maybe bidding on this coin.

Looks like someone dipped half/half the coin in cleaning solution!

Good point!

But now, by messing with around with the toning, its really a shot coin!

They were probably better off just leaving it alone.

I don't believe that the toning was dipped, if it were, it would be discolored on both sides. The straight line gives it away, but it could be due to the coin being partially covered by an acidic sheet of paper. I would think this is accidental rather than an attempt to hide something, but anything is possible.

Hi NGiles!

You think this is natural toning? interesting-
I read somewhere, can't quite remember where though, that Morgans can have all sorts of toning in odd ball configurations ,let out exposed to sunlight in one area of the coin only etc,
I wish I could remember where I saw that?

I wouldn't say that it is natural, just that it wasn't dipped. something may have been brushed on, or something set on it that accelerated the toning process.
