*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

I bought a box of pennies thinking they were all mixed dates but they are all 2018s.
Anyways I open a roll to look at them and noticed a few with what looks like a Cud or die chip on the left side top of the shield.

I'd like to hear your input on it.

I also found this same mark on a couple more.

Those two are die chips. Most of the time, you see a chip and it reminds you of someone's gum left behind. On this one it is a bit different. This type reminds me of glass that slivers away in a thin chip. Yours has two of them. But no premium for these. Just knowing what it is, is the value for. The left shield area the most common area for these chips. It maybe av issue when the large area of the bust gets formed that creates extra stress on this area?

Thank you... finding out information is always more value to me than what the coin is worth, although it helps too!! :)

I see that type of chip a lot less. But it always reminds me of a glass chip. It peeled off the die horizontally. Most of the time they break away vertically, but at an angle away from a device. Kind of a I'm out of here breakaway. When they continue crumbling, they start to look like someone parked their gum there on the coins.

to me they look like they were formed at the beginning of the die chipping as they are in the same spot just not as pronounced as the others.

your opinion?
